Introducing Privacy Cards: One Card, One Vendor, Zero Exposure

Yativo now enables platforms to issue single-load virtual cards to their users, giving each vendor its own card, loaded with only what needs to be spent. No shared card numbers. No overspend risk. No residual exposure

The Problem With Shared Cards

Every time a business uses a single card number across multiple vendors, they’re taking a risk. The number gets stored. It gets transmitted. And at some point, it leaks — either through a vendor breach, a phishing attack, or a compromised payment processor.

The result? Unauthorised charges. Fraud disputes. Hours of reconciliation. And for platforms that issue cards to their users, a damaged reputation they can’t easily recover from.

The traditional fix — having users cancel and reissue cards after a breach — is reactive and disruptive. We built Privacy Cards to solve this proactively.

Card fraud costs businesses globally an estimated $32 billion per year. Most of it is preventable — with the right infrastructure.

What Are Privacy Cards?

Privacy Cards are single-load virtual cards that platforms can issue to their users via the Yativo API. The core principle is simple: one card per vendor, loaded with only the amount the user wants to spend.

Here’s what makes them different from standard virtual cards:

  • Single-load: Each card is loaded once, at the amount the user chooses. The card cannot be charged beyond that amount — ever.
  • Vendor-isolated: Users create a separate card for each vendor. Netflix gets one card. AWS gets another. Stripe gets a third. No vendor ever sees another vendor’s card details.
  • Auto-expiring: Once spent, the card is dead. No recurring charges, no future debits, no residual exposure from a stored card number.
  • Works everywhere: Accepted at any merchant that accepts Visa/Mastercard — online and in-store, globally.

How It Works: The Technical Flow

Privacy Cards are designed for platforms: fintechs, marketplaces, expense management tools, and any business that manages payments on behalf of users. Here’s the flow:

  1. Integrate once via the Yativo API. A single API integration gives your platform the ability to issue unlimited Privacy Cards for your users.
  2. User creates a card for a vendor. They specify the amount — for example, $14.99 for a monthly Netflix subscription.
  3. The card is issued instantly. Card details are generated in milliseconds and returned to your platform via API.
  4. User pays the vendor. The card is charged for the specified amount. Any attempt to charge more is automatically declined.
  5. Card expires. Once the transaction is complete, the card becomes invalid. The vendor’s record of that card number is worthless.

8 Card Design Variations

We’re launching with 8 distinct card design variations, so platforms can choose the visual style that fits their brand. All 8 are fully white-label ready — you can issue them under your platform’s name, not Yativo’s.

Designs range from dark, minimal styles to bold purple-gradient variants — all built to look premium in your users’ hands.

Who Should Use Privacy Cards?

Privacy Cards are built for platforms, not end users directly. If you’re building any of the following, Privacy Cards are worth integrating:

  • SaaS platforms managing software subscriptions on behalf of clients
  • Expense management tools giving employees isolated spend budgets
  • Marketplaces issuing vendor-specific payment instruments to buyers
  • Fintechs building spend control features for SMBs or enterprise clients
  • Neobanks looking to add a privacy-first card product to their offering
