How to Process Local Payouts to Côte d’Ivoire (XOF) via Mobile Money Using Stablecoins

Mobile money payouts to Côte d'Ivoire in XOF funded by USDC: 27.8 million mobile money subscriptions in Q4 2025, CFA938.8 billion in diaspora transfers, and payouts that settle in under 30 minutes

Your designer in Abidjan invoices in West African francs and cashes out on Orange Money. A bank wire forces them to wait days and visit a branch they rarely use.

Mobile money payouts to Côte d’Ivoire with stablecoin settlement match how people actually get paid. You fund in USDC or USD, lock a quote, and your recipient gets XOF straight in their mobile wallet.

The market is deep. ARTCI reported 27.8 million mobile money subscriptions in Q4 2025, and the diaspora sent nearly CFA938.8 billion into the country in 2025.

This guide covers why wallet payouts matter in Côte d’Ivoire, how the stablecoin-funded flow works, and which recipient details you need. It then walks through your first Mobile Money (CI) payout by dashboard and by API.

Why Paying Out to Ivorian Mobile Wallets Is Harder Than It Should Be

Mobile money is everyday infrastructure in Côte d’Ivoire. The friction appears when a foreign payer can only send a bank wire or a cash-pickup remittance.

Sub-Saharan Africa is still the costliest remittance region. The World Bank put the average total cost at 8.46% of the amount sent in Q3 2025, against a global average of 6.36%.

Recipients already expect a wallet credit. With tens of millions of subscriptions, asking someone to open a bank account just for your payroll creates drop-off. GSMA documents how mobile money has reshaped the Ivorian economy over the last decade (GSMA).

Wrong numbers fail fast. A mistyped MSISDN or the wrong network name returns the payout. Collecting a screenshot of the wallet profile during onboarding prevents most of those errors.

Bank-only tools force workarounds. Teams that live on Wave or Orange Money will delay onboarding if you only support IBAN-style bank fields.

Mobile Money Payouts to Côte d’Ivoire with a Stablecoin Layer: How It Works

Yativo is payment infrastructure, not a bank. We use stablecoins as the settlement layer between your balance and Côte d’Ivoire. A licensed local payout partner then credits the mobile money wallet on the ground.

  1. You fund your Yativo float balance with a fiat or stablecoin deposit, such as USDC.
  2. Yativo converts the payout value to USDC and settles it on-chain.
  3. A licensed local payout partner in Côte d’Ivoire receives the stablecoin settlement.
  4. The partner converts USDC to XOF and credits the recipient’s mobile money wallet.
  5. Your recipient sees a normal wallet credit in West African francs.

Your recipient does not need a crypto wallet. They never see or touch stablecoins. On their side, the payment looks like any domestic mobile money credit.

Supported Payout Rails for Côte d’Ivoire

Yativo’s featured method for this guide is Mobile Money (CI), which pays XOF into an Ivorian mobile money wallet. Our Côte d’Ivoire list also includes Local Payout XOF for bank-and-wallet payouts and SWIFT for dollars.

Mobile Money (CI)

Orange Money, MTN MoMo and Wave are the everyday wallets your recipients already check. Mobile Money (CI) is built for that channel instead of forcing a bank deposit.

Required details: the fields returned by the Côte d’Ivoire mobile money form, gateway ID 1322. Expect the holder’s name, the MSISDN and the mobile money network.

Settlement time: payouts via Mobile Money (CI) settle in under 30 minutes.

Best for: freelancers, field staff, marketplace sellers and anyone who lives on a mobile wallet in Abidjan or secondary cities.

Local Payout XOF and USD alternatives

If your recipient prefers a bank account, or you need one method that covers both channels, use Local Payout XOF, gateway ID 1259. We cover that rail in our {SIBLINK}. For dollars, use SWIFT, gateway ID 559.

Recipient Details to Collect Before Your First Mobile Money Payout

The Mobile Money (CI) form in your dashboard, or the authenticated GET /beneficiary/form/show/1322 call, is the authoritative field list. Our public documentation does not publish this form yet. Collect the details below during onboarding.

  • Legal name: full name as registered on the mobile money wallet.
  • MSISDN: the phone number of the wallet, with the correct country code.
  • Network: the mobile money operator, for example Orange Money, MTN MoMo or Wave.
  • ID number: the CNI when the form asks for it.
  • Holder type: individual or company, if the form supports both.

Ask for a screenshot of the wallet home screen during onboarding. It confirms the name and number before the first payout.

How to Send a Mobile Money Payout to Côte d’Ivoire via Yativo

Option 1: Dashboard (for manual payouts)

  1. Fund your Yativo float balance with either a fiat or a stablecoin deposit.
  2. Go to Transfer in your Yativo dashboard.
  3. Select the float wallet you are paying with, for example USD, EUR, MXN or whichever balance you funded.
  4. Choose the customer you are paying on behalf of. This step is necessary for fintechs that run payouts on behalf of their customers.
  5. Choose Côte d’Ivoire as the destination country and the Mobile Money (CI) payout method.
  6. Enter the recipient details the payout form asks for, such as the holder’s name, phone number and mobile money network.
  7. Enter the amount in USD or XOF.
  8. Review the quote: exchange rate, fees, delivery time and the exact XOF amount your recipient receives.
  9. Confirm with your PIN and 2FA.
  10. Track the payout in real time and download the receipt for your records.

Option 2: API (for automated and bulk payouts)

Every endpoint below is in the Yativo API documentation. Production calls go to https://api.yativo.com/api/v1, and the sandbox runs at https://smtp.yativo.com/api/v1.

Authenticate every request with the X-Api-Key and X-Api-Secret headers. Each key only works from the server IPs listed on it. These API keys replaced bearer tokens, and login tokens stop working from servers on October 15, 2026, as covered in our October update. Every POST request also needs a unique Idempotency-Key header.

Step 1. Generate a USDC funding address on Solana to top up your USD balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/crypto/create-wallet
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: a9b8c7d6-5e4f-4a3b-2c1d-0e9f8a7b6c51
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "currency": "USDC_SOL"
}

Step 2. List the payout methods available for Côte d’Ivoire. Use country code CI for this mobile money rail:

curl "https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/payment-methods/payout?country=CI" \
  -H "X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY" \
  -H "X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET" \
  -H "Accept: application/json"

Mobile Money (CI) is active and carries gateway ID 1322. Always read the ID from the live response instead of hardcoding it.

Step 3. Fetch the required fields for that gateway:

GET https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiary/form/show/1322
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET

The response lists every required field and the accepted values for each one. Build your payment_data object from it. For field details, see API documentation.

Step 4. Create the beneficiary. Replace the placeholder with the fields the form returned:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiaries/payment-methods/
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: b8c7d6e5-4f3a-4b2c-1d0e-9f8a7b6c5d61
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "gateway_id": 1322,
  "nickname": "Abidjan Designer MoMo",
  "currency": "XOF",
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "payment_data": {
    "{field_from_form}": "{value}"
  }
}

Step 5. Optionally, lock your rate. Quotes hold for 5 minutes:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/exchange-rate
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: c7d6e5f4-3a2b-4c1d-0e9f-8a7b6c5d4e71
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "from_currency": "USD",
  "to_currency": "XOF",
  "method_id": 1322,
  "method_type": "payout",
  "amount": 1500
}

Step 6. Initiate the payout from your USD balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/wallet/payout
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: d6e5f4a3-2b1c-4d0e-9f8a-7b6c5d4e3f81
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "debit_wallet": "USD",
  "amount": 1500,
  "payment_method_id": 9132,
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "quote_id": "4a72ecf8-6c8a-4e38-9971-8aabe9f785ed"
}

Use the id from the beneficiary response as payment_method_id. Leave out quote_id if you did not lock a rate. For bulk runs, repeat the call per beneficiary, as described on our payouts page.

Best Practices for Côte d’Ivoire Mobile Money Payouts

Verify the MSISDN against the registered name. A number that belongs to someone else will bounce or credit the wrong person.

Store the network with the number. Orange Money, MTN MoMo and Wave are not interchangeable. Capture both fields once and reuse them.

Plan for wallet-first recipients. With 27.8 million subscriptions in Q4 2025, many Ivorian contractors never ask for a bank deposit.

Lock the rate on large runs. Exchange-rate quotes hold for 5 minutes. Lock one before a bulk contractor payday so every wallet gets the expected XOF amount.

Keep your bank option ready. Some suppliers still want a bank credit. Cross-link your ops playbook to our {SIBLINK} and to the hidden costs of international payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my recipient in Côte d’Ivoire need a crypto wallet?

No. Your recipient gets XOF in their normal Orange Money, MTN MoMo or Wave wallet. They never interact with stablecoins.

Is it legal and compliant to pay Ivorian recipients this way?

Yes, when the payout runs through regulated infrastructure. Yativo is registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business, registration number 31000270723339. A licensed local payout partner credits the wallet. Your own tax and reporting duties still apply.

How long does a mobile money payout to Côte d’Ivoire take?

Payouts via Mobile Money (CI) settle in under 30 minutes. Domestic mobile money credits in Côte d’Ivoire are typically near-instant once the local partner posts them.

What if my recipient only has a bank account?

Use Local Payout XOF, which can pay bank accounts as well as wallets. We cover that method in our guide to bank and mobile money payouts in Côte d’Ivoire.

Which mobile money networks can receive the payout?

Collect the network and MSISDN the form asks for. In Côte d’Ivoire the main wallets include Orange Money, MTN MoMo and Wave. Confirm the exact options in the live form.

Can my recipient receive US dollars instead of XOF?

Not through this rail, which delivers XOF. For dollars, use SWIFT, gateway ID 559.
