How to Process Local Payouts to Spain (EUR) via SEPA Using Stablecoins

SEPA payouts to Spain in EUR funded by USDC or EURC: transfers carry 88.5% of Spanish non-cash payment value, payouts settle in under 30 minutes, IBAN delivery

Your packaging supplier in Valencia will not ship the next order until the last invoice clears. Your bank says the international wire left two days ago. Their bank says nothing has arrived.

SEPA payouts to Spain with stablecoin funding fix that gap. You fund in USDC or EURC, confirm a quote, and a licensed local payout partner credits euros to the recipient’s Spanish IBAN in under 30 minutes.

Bank transfers are how Spain moves serious money. In the first half of 2025, transfers carried 88.5% of the value of all non-cash payments in Spain, according to Banco de España. If you pay Spanish businesses, you pay them by transfer.

This guide covers why paying Spain from outside the euro area still drags, how the stablecoin-funded SEPA flow works, and which details you need. It then walks through your first payout by dashboard and by API.

Why SEPA Payouts to Spain Are Harder Than They Should Be

Spanish recipients are used to money that moves in seconds. The friction is on your side, when your funds start outside the euro area.

Your recipients already have instant money at home. Spain’s bank-run mobile payment service Bizum had 30.6 million users and 1,237 million operations in 2025. A three-day international wire feels slow next to that.

Correspondent chains cost you twice. A USD wire often converts to euros at an intermediary bank. You pay a spread you never agreed to, and the supplier may receive less than the invoice.

Name and IBAN must match. Since 9 October 2025, euro area banks must offer Verification of Payee on euro transfers. A trading name instead of the legal name can trigger a warning or a return.

Unclear arrival times break supply chains. When you cannot tell a supplier when funds land, they hold the shipment. That costs more than any wire fee.

How SEPA Payouts to Spain with Stablecoin Funding Work

Yativo is payment infrastructure, not a bank. We use stablecoins as the settlement layer between your balance and the euro area. A licensed local payout partner then makes the SEPA credit to the Spanish bank account.

  1. You fund your Yativo float balance with a fiat deposit or a stablecoin such as USDC or EURC.
  2. Yativo converts the payout value to a stablecoin and settles it on-chain.
  3. A licensed local payout partner in Europe receives the stablecoin settlement.
  4. The partner converts it to euros and sends a SEPA credit transfer to the recipient’s IBAN.
  5. Your recipient receives EUR in their normal Spanish bank account.

Your supplier does not need a crypto wallet. They never see or touch stablecoins. On their side, the payment is a standard SEPA credit.

SEPA is one of the largest payment areas in the world. The euro area processed 17.8 billion credit transfers in the second half of 2025, according to the ECB. For more on the settlement layer, read how to receive international payments in stablecoins.

Supported Payout Rails for Spain

Yativo shows every active method for Spain through the payout methods endpoint. These are the options for EUR and USD today.

Bank SEPA (ES): featured

This is the main SEPA rail for euro payouts to Spanish bank accounts. It carries gateway ID 1244 and delivers EUR to any Spanish IBAN.

Required details: account holder name and Spanish IBAN. The form may also ask for a BIC or address. For the exact list, see API documentation.

Settlement time: under 30 minutes.

Best for: supplier invoices, contractor payments, payroll top-ups and marketplace seller payouts.

Visa Push-to-Card (EUR)

Pay2Card, gateway ID 1273, pushes euros to an eligible Visa card in Spain. It suits gig, refund and small instant payouts where the recipient prefers a card. See our full guide to Visa Push-to-Card payouts to Spain.

POBO (Local) EUR

POBO (Local), gateway ID 1096, pays euros locally on behalf of your business. It settles next business day (T+1).

SWIFT options

SWIFT in USD, gateway ID 583, stays available when the recipient wants dollars in a Spanish account. SWIFT (POBO) in EUR, gateway ID 1129, also appears for some accounts. SWIFT and SWIFT (POBO) settle in T+1 / next business day.

Paying a team in Portugal as well? Our guide to SEPA payouts to Portugal uses the same flow for Portuguese IBANs.

Recipient Details to Collect Before Your First Spain Payout

The payout form for gateway 1244 is the authoritative field list. Our public API documentation does not publish that form yet, so read it from your dashboard or from the form endpoint below.

  • Account holder name: the legal name exactly as the bank account shows it, including the company form.
  • IBAN: Spanish IBANs start with ES and have 24 characters. Copy it from the recipient’s banking app or invoice.
  • BIC/SWIFT code: if the form asks for it.
  • Address and holder type: individual or company, when the form requires them.

Spanish invoices usually print the IBAN in the footer. Copy it from the PDF instead of asking the supplier to retype it in an email.

How to Send SEPA Payouts to Spain via Yativo

Option 1: Dashboard (for manual payouts)

  1. Fund your Yativo float balance with either a fiat or a stablecoin deposit, such as USDC or EURC.
  2. Go to Transfer in your Yativo dashboard.
  3. Select the float wallet you are paying with, for example USD, EUR, MXN or whichever balance you funded.
  4. Choose the customer you are paying on behalf of. This step is necessary for fintechs that run payouts on behalf of their customers.
  5. Choose Spain as the destination country and the Bank SEPA (ES) payout method.
  6. Enter the recipient details the form asks for, such as the account holder name and the Spanish IBAN.
  7. Enter the amount in USD or EUR.
  8. Review the quote: exchange rate, fees, delivery time and the exact EUR amount your recipient receives.
  9. Confirm with your PIN and 2FA.
  10. Track the payout in real time and download the receipt for your records.

Option 2: API (for automated and bulk payouts)

Every endpoint below is in the Yativo API documentation. Production calls go to https://api.yativo.com/api/v1, and the sandbox runs at https://smtp.yativo.com/api/v1.

Authenticate every request with the X-Api-Key and X-Api-Secret headers. Each key only works from the server IPs listed on it. These API keys replaced bearer tokens, as covered in our October update. Every POST request also needs a unique Idempotency-Key header.

Step 1. Generate a USDC funding address on Solana to top up your balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/crypto/create-wallet
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: 7d5e3a64-bf88-4c5b-de05-4a9c6f2b8c11
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "currency": "USDC_SOL"
}

Step 2. List the payout methods available for Spain:

curl "https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/payment-methods/payout?country=ESP" \
  -H "X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY" \
  -H "X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET" \
  -H "Accept: application/json"

Bank SEPA (ES) is active and carries gateway ID 1244. Pay2Card 1273 and POBO 1096 also appear. Always read the ID from the live response instead of hardcoding it.

Step 3. Fetch the required fields for that gateway:

GET https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiary/form/show/1244
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET

The response lists every required field and the accepted values for each one. Build your payment_data object from it. For field details, see API documentation.

Step 4. Create the beneficiary. Replace the placeholder with the fields the form returned:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiaries/payment-methods/
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: 8e6f4b75-c099-4d6c-ef16-5bad7a3c9d12
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "gateway_id": 1244,
  "nickname": "Valencia Packaging Supplier",
  "currency": "EUR",
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "payment_data": {
    "{field_from_form}": "{value}"
  }
}

Step 5. Optionally, lock your rate. Quotes hold for 5 minutes:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/exchange-rate
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: 9f7a5c86-d1aa-4e7d-f027-6cbe8b4dae13
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "from_currency": "USD",
  "to_currency": "EUR",
  "method_id": 1244,
  "method_type": "payout",
  "amount": 4800
}

Step 6. Initiate the payout from your balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/wallet/payout
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: a08b6d97-e2bb-4f8e-a138-7dcf9c5ebf14
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "debit_wallet": "USD",
  "amount": 4800,
  "payment_method_id": 9512,
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "quote_id": "4a72ecf8-6c8a-4e38-9971-8aabe9f785ed"
}

Use the id from the beneficiary response as payment_method_id. Leave out quote_id if you did not lock a rate. For bulk runs, repeat the call per beneficiary, as described on our payouts page.

Best Practices for SEPA Payouts to Spain

Use the legal name, not the trading name. Verification of Payee compares the name with the IBAN holder. Ask for the name exactly as it appears on the bank certificate.

Validate the IBAN length at onboarding. A Spanish IBAN starts with ES and runs 24 characters. Catch typos before you save the beneficiary.

Choose bank or card by payout size. Use Bank SEPA (ES) for invoices and payroll. Use Visa Push-to-Card for small, frequent payouts to individuals who live on their card.

Lock the rate on large invoices. Quotes hold for 5 minutes. A locked quote tells you the exact euro amount the supplier will receive.

Send remittance details with the payment. Spanish finance teams reconcile by invoice number. Put it in your internal reference so you can match the receipt later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my supplier in Spain need a crypto wallet?

No. Your supplier receives euros in their normal Spanish bank account over SEPA. They never see or touch stablecoins. The credit looks like any other euro transfer on their statement.

Is this legal and compliant?

Yes. Yativo is registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business, registration number 31000270723339. A licensed local payout partner delivers the euro credit inside SEPA. Your own invoicing, tax and reporting duties still apply.

How long does a SEPA payout to Spain take?

Featured SEPA payouts to Spain through Bank SEPA (ES), gateway ID 1244, settle in under 30 minutes. The POBO (Local) method, gateway ID 1096, delivers next business day (T+1). Your quote shows the delivery time before you confirm.

What details do I need from my recipient?

At minimum, the account holder name and a Spanish IBAN, which starts with ES and has 24 characters. Some forms also ask for a BIC or an address. Read the exact list from the payout form, or see API documentation.

Can I pay a Spanish card instead of a bank account?

Yes. When your recipient prefers a debit card, use Visa Push-to-Card payouts to Spain. That rail pushes euros to an eligible Visa card instead of an IBAN.

Can I fund in EURC instead of USDC?

Yes, if your account supports it. You can fund your float with a fiat deposit or a stablecoin such as USDC or EURC. The recipient still gets euros in their bank account.
