How to Process Local Payouts to Côte d’Ivoire (XOF) via Bank Transfer & Mobile Money Using Stablecoins

Local bank and mobile money payouts to Côte d'Ivoire in XOF funded by USDC: CFA938.8 billion in diaspora transfers in 2025, 27.8 million mobile money subscriptions, and payouts that settle in under 30 minutes

Your cocoa exporter in Abidjan wants West African francs this week. Your dollar wire cleared New York on Tuesday, and it is still waiting in a correspondent bank in Paris.

Local bank & mobile money payouts to Côte d’Ivoire with stablecoin settlement close that gap. You fund in USDC or USD, lock a quote, and your recipient gets XOF in a bank account or a mobile money wallet.

The diaspora already moves serious money here. Organizers of the national diaspora forum reported nearly CFA938.8 billion transferred to Côte d’Ivoire in 2025, after about CFA840 billion in 2024.

This guide covers why Ivorian payouts stall, how the stablecoin-funded flow works, and which recipient details you need. It then walks through your first XOF payout by dashboard and by API.

Why Paying Out in Côte d’Ivoire Is Harder Than It Should Be

Côte d’Ivoire is one of Francophone Africa’s busiest digital finance markets. The friction sits at the border, where a foreign payment meets currency conversion, intermediaries and incomplete beneficiary data.

Cross-border transfers into Sub-Saharan Africa are expensive. The region remained the costliest receiving region in Q3 2025 at 8.46% of the amount sent, according to the World Bank. The global average sits at 6.36%. On a US$20,000 monthly contractor payroll, the SSA average would cost about US$1,692 every month.

Wires get converted on the bank’s terms. A dollar wire into an XOF account is converted at the receiving bank’s rate. Your recipient sees the final amount only after the money lands.

Correspondent chains add days. A SWIFT payment can pass through one or more intermediary banks before it reaches Abidjan. Each hop can deduct a fee and add a day.

Many recipients live on mobile money. ARTCI counted 27.8 million mobile money subscriptions in Q4 2025. A bank-only payout method forces those recipients into a channel they may not use.

Local Bank & Mobile Money Payouts to Côte d’Ivoire with a Stablecoin Layer: How It Works

Yativo is payment infrastructure, not a bank. We use stablecoins as the settlement layer between your balance and Côte d’Ivoire. A licensed local payout partner then delivers the XOF on the ground.

  1. You fund your Yativo float balance with a fiat or stablecoin deposit, such as USDC.
  2. Yativo converts the payout value to USDC and settles it on-chain.
  3. A licensed local payout partner in Côte d’Ivoire receives the stablecoin settlement.
  4. The partner converts USDC to XOF and credits either a domestic bank account or a mobile money wallet.
  5. Your recipient receives West African francs in the channel they already use.

Your recipient does not need a crypto wallet. They never see or touch stablecoins. On their side, the payment looks like any domestic credit from a local sender.

GSMA’s evaluation notes that registered mobile money accounts in Côte d’Ivoire more than doubled from 2013 to 2023 (GSMA). Transaction value rose sharply over the same decade. For more on the settlement layer, read how to receive international payments in stablecoins.

Supported Payout Rails for Côte d’Ivoire

Yativo’s featured method for this guide is Local Payout XOF, which can pay an Ivorian bank account or a mobile money wallet under one local_payout rail. Our Côte d’Ivoire list also includes SWIFT for dollars and a dedicated Mobile Money (CI) method.

Local Payout XOF (bank account and mobile money)

Local bank transfers in Côte d’Ivoire move through the UEMOA payment systems supervised by the BCEAO. Mobile money wallets from Orange Money, MTN MoMo and Wave sit alongside those bank rails for everyday credits.

Required details: the fields returned by the Côte d’Ivoire payout form, gateway ID 1259. Expect the holder’s name and ID, plus either bank account data or mobile money wallet data, depending on the channel you select.

Settlement time: payouts via Local Payout XOF settle in under 30 minutes.

Best for: cocoa and cashew suppliers, contractors, payroll recipients and marketplace sellers who bank or hold a wallet in Côte d’Ivoire.

Mobile Money (CI)

Mobile Money (CI), gateway ID 1322, is a dedicated mobile-money rail for Côte d’Ivoire. We cover it in our {SIBLINK}. With 27.8 million subscriptions in late 2025, wallet-first payouts are often the default for freelancers and field staff.

USD alternatives

Local Payout XOF delivers West African francs only. If your recipient wants dollars, use SWIFT, gateway ID 559, which pays USD. Availability depends on your account, so check the live list before you build.

Recipient Details to Collect Before Your First XOF Payout

The Côte d’Ivoire payout form in your dashboard, or the authenticated GET /beneficiary/form/show/1259 call, is the authoritative field list. Our public documentation does not publish this form yet. Collect the details below during onboarding so you can fill it without a round of emails.

  • Holder type: individual or company.
  • Legal name: full name as it appears on the national ID (CNI), or the registered company name.
  • ID number: the CNI for individuals, or the taxpayer number for companies.
  • Payout channel: bank account or mobile money wallet.
  • For bank payouts: bank name and account number, copied from a statement or the bank’s app.
  • For mobile money payouts: MSISDN, network (for example Orange Money, MTN MoMo or Wave) and the name registered on the wallet.

Ask for a screenshot of the account or wallet details during onboarding. It removes most typing errors before the first payout.

How to Send an XOF Payout to Côte d’Ivoire via Yativo

Option 1: Dashboard (for manual payouts)

  1. Fund your Yativo float balance with either a fiat or a stablecoin deposit.
  2. Go to Transfer in your Yativo dashboard.
  3. Select the float wallet you are paying with, for example USD, EUR, MXN or whichever balance you funded.
  4. Choose the customer you are paying on behalf of. This step is necessary for fintechs that run payouts on behalf of their customers.
  5. Choose Côte d’Ivoire as the destination country and the Local Payout XOF method.
  6. Enter the recipient details the payout form asks for, such as the holder’s name, ID, and either bank account or mobile money wallet details.
  7. Enter the amount in USD or XOF.
  8. Review the quote: exchange rate, fees, delivery time and the exact XOF amount your recipient receives.
  9. Confirm with your PIN and 2FA.
  10. Track the payout in real time and download the receipt for your records.

Option 2: API (for automated and bulk payouts)

Every endpoint below is in the Yativo API documentation. Production calls go to https://api.yativo.com/api/v1, and the sandbox runs at https://smtp.yativo.com/api/v1.

Authenticate every request with the X-Api-Key and X-Api-Secret headers. Each key only works from the server IPs listed on it. These API keys replaced bearer tokens, and login tokens stop working from servers on October 15, 2026, as covered in our October update. Every POST request also needs a unique Idempotency-Key header.

Step 1. Generate a USDC funding address on Solana to top up your USD balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/crypto/create-wallet
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: c1d2e3f4-5a6b-4c7d-8e9f-0a1b2c3d4e51
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "currency": "USDC_SOL"
}

Step 2. List the payout methods available for Côte d’Ivoire:

curl "https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/payment-methods/payout?country=CIV" \
  -H "X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY" \
  -H "X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET" \
  -H "Accept: application/json"

Local Payout XOF is active and carries gateway ID 1259. Always read the ID from the live response instead of hardcoding it.

Step 3. Fetch the required fields for that gateway:

GET https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiary/form/show/1259
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET

The response lists every required field and the accepted values for each one. Build your payment_data object from it. For field details, see API documentation.

Step 4. Create the beneficiary. Replace the placeholder with the fields the form returned:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/beneficiaries/payment-methods/
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: d2e3f4a5-6b7c-4d8e-9f0a-1b2c3d4e5f61
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "gateway_id": 1259,
  "nickname": "Abidjan Cocoa Export SA",
  "currency": "XOF",
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "payment_data": {
    "{field_from_form}": "{value}"
  }
}

Step 5. Optionally, lock your rate. Quotes hold for 5 minutes:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/exchange-rate
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: e3f4a5b6-7c8d-4e9f-0a1b-2c3d4e5f6a71
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "from_currency": "USD",
  "to_currency": "XOF",
  "method_id": 1259,
  "method_type": "payout",
  "amount": 4000
}

Step 6. Initiate the payout from your USD balance:

POST https://api.yativo.com/api/v1/wallet/payout
X-Api-Key: $YATIVO_API_KEY
X-Api-Secret: $YATIVO_API_SECRET
Idempotency-Key: f4a5b6c7-8d9e-4f0a-1b2c-3d4e5f6a7b81
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "debit_wallet": "USD",
  "amount": 4000,
  "payment_method_id": 8128,
  "customer_id": "e8caa491-57b6-4c39-9e3a-d2c97e47fbf0",
  "quote_id": "4a72ecf8-6c8a-4e38-9971-8aabe9f785ed"
}

Use the id from the beneficiary response as payment_method_id. Leave out quote_id if you did not lock a rate. For bulk runs, repeat the call per beneficiary, as described on our payouts page.

Best Practices for Côte d’Ivoire Payouts

Match the ID to the account or wallet holder. Make sure the CNI belongs to the person who owns the account or MSISDN. Mismatches are a common reason for returns.

Ask which channel they actually use. Many Ivorian recipients prefer Orange Money, MTN MoMo or Wave over a bank branch visit. Collect both options during onboarding when you can.

Expect mobile money volume. With 27.8 million subscriptions in Q4 2025, wallet credits are often faster to collect than bank details.

Lock the rate on large payouts. Exchange-rate quotes hold for 5 minutes, so lock one for payroll runs and large invoices. You then know the exact XOF amount before you confirm.

Run one playbook across corridors. The same stablecoin settlement pattern works elsewhere. See our guide to local payouts to Argentina via bank transfer and the hidden costs of international payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my recipient in Côte d’Ivoire need a crypto wallet?

No. Your recipient gets West African francs in a normal bank account or mobile money wallet. They never interact with stablecoins.

Is it legal and compliant to pay Ivorian recipients this way?

Yes, when the payout runs through regulated infrastructure. Yativo is registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business, registration number 31000270723339. A licensed local payout partner makes the domestic credit. Your own tax and reporting duties still apply.

How long does an XOF payout take?

Payouts via Local Payout XOF settle in under 30 minutes. Local bank rails and mobile money credits in Côte d’Ivoire are typically fast once the partner posts them.

Can I pay a bank account and a mobile money wallet with the same method?

Local Payout XOF is the bank-and-mobile-money method for this corridor. The payout form asks which channel you are using. For a dedicated Mobile Money (CI) rail, see our guide to mobile money payouts in Côte d’Ivoire.

Can I pay an Ivorian company, not just a person?

Yes. Collect the registered company name and taxpayer ID along with the account or wallet details the form requests.

Can my recipient receive US dollars instead of XOF?

Not through this rail, which delivers XOF. For dollars, use SWIFT, gateway ID 559. Check GET /payment-methods/payout?country=CIV for methods enabled on your account.
